I've just done a slide show on our ECS impromptu speech, I was bored so kept cam whoring all tha way XD What I use is the slide show gadget and picasa web album. Do you know all the pictures in your blog are stored in your picasa web album? This i just found out while i was making the slideshow - i made a picasa web album which is as easy as 1,2,3 upload my pictures and presto! but bad thing is if you upload using your web browser you can only 5 pix at a time WTF? but there's a solution - download the Picasa2 software. It's a pictured editing software at the same time you can upload as many pictures to your picasa web album at any time and also add cool effects to your pix before uploading. Have a try! its simple yet fun XD
